Description
The Virginia Creeper trail follows beside Laurel Creek, winding through a forest filled with
wildlife. Over 93 species of birds have been reported as seen on the trail. Animals who call the
forest home include the Virginia opossum, eastern mole, little brown bat, eastern cottontail,
woodchuck/groundhog, house mouse, deer mouse, eastern grey squirrel, red squirrel, eastern
chipmunk, muskrat, American beaver, common raccoon, striped skunk, red fox, common grey
fox, coyote, black bear, bobcat, white-tailed deer. One section of the trail offers a chance to
view wild pones. Creatures that shy away from the frequent foot traffic on the bike trail may
be easier to spot on the other side of the creek where they are less likely to be disturbed.
